What is the timeframe for the Winter 2025-26 season?

The Winter season runs from the week of November 10, 2025 through March 8, 2026, lasting 14 weeks (excluding the New Year recess and SJUSD Winter recess).

Is the Winter season a recreational program?

AYB has both competitive and recreational programs for the Winter season. Different from the AYB divisional league that is recreational, the competitive club teams are formed to compete in AAU-level tournaments. Coaches will evaluate registered players during tryouts and select rosters based on performance and fit.

When are the tryouts?

Tryouts will take place on September 24, October 6 and October 7. Exact time and location will be shared when you sign up for tryout. A shorter makeup session will also be provided for each team, tentatively on October 8, for players who couldn't attend the main tryout.

What age groups are forming teams this Winter 2025-26?

Based on coach and gym availability, we’re forming teams for the following grades:

• Girls: 6th, 8th
• Boys: 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th

What if I don't see an age group available for my child?

There is no coach and gym availability for that specific age group.

When and where are practices?

Teams practice 1-2 times per week, typically 1 weekday evening and Sunday (if no tournament). Practice length is 1.5 to 2 hours, using SJUSD school gyms in the Almaden area, with a mix of half-court and full-court depending on gym availability. Practice schedules are published 1-2 weeks in advance.

How much does it cost, and what’s included?

The Winter 2025-26 season fee is $1,100. As a non-profit, AYB is committed to keeping costs reasonable while providing a high-quality experience for the kids. The fee covers:

• 1-2 practices per week
• 7 weekend tournaments, including 3 one-day events (2 games each), 3 two-day events (3-4 games each) and 1 three-day event (4 games)
• Experienced coaching focused on both individual skills and team development
• Shooting clinic using a professional-grade shooting machine
• Uniform and team shirt/swag
  

Any changes to the above will be communicated before final registration.

Do the club teams travel?

Yes. For the Winter 2025-26 season, teams will participate in two travel tournaments.

• To Garden Grove, CA for a three-day tournament over the MLK Day weekend (three-night hotel stay is typically required).
• To Rocklin, CA for the final tournament on Mar 7-8 (one-night hotel stay is typically required).
