Almaden 2025 Winter Skills Series

A program where players build their basketball foundation through focused, hands-on training in a positive, engaging environment. Sessions will be led by experienced coaches and trainers committed to teaching in a supportive and structured setting that prioritizes player development and confidence.

We’ll work on dribbling, ball handling, passing, footwork, shooting form, defense, and teamwork — some of the essential skills that every great player needs.

Grades 3-8 • All Skill Levels Welcome
Open to kids NOT on AYB Divisional or Club teams

The dates and times of the skill series sessions are:
  • Sunday, Nov 9th - 1:00 - 2:00pm
  • Sunday, Nov 16th - 1:00 - 2:00pm
  • Sunday, Nov 23rd - 1:00 - 2:00pm
  • Sunday, Dec 7th - 3:00 - 4:00pm
  • Sunday, Dec 14th - TBA
  • Saturday, Dec 20th - TBA

Almaden 2025/2026 Winter Season

Almaden Valley 2025-2026 Winter Season

A fun and competitive indoor full-court basketball program. The program consists of three leagues - Divisional League, Rookie League and Competitive Club League.

Rookie League, 1st to 2nd Grade Teams (Nov to Feb)
  • A non-competitive basketball league for 1st and 2nd graders
  • Players learn basketball FUNdamentals in a supportive team environment
  • There is one practice per week, usually on Saturday mornings, beginning in November and continuing through February
  • At the middle and end of the season, teams participate in organized games
  • Mandatory evaluations to be held in early Nov 2025 - to help with team placement

Divisional League, 3rd to 8th Grade Teams (Oct to Mar)
  • Recreational league suited for all levels of basketball skills
  • Divided into Boys and Girls teams each having three Divisions
  • Division I (7th & 8th grade), Division II (5th and 6th grade) and Division III (3rd and 4th grade)
  • Players will have multiple basketball skills sessions in Sep - BEFORE player evaluations - with a professional trainer. First skill clinic on Sept 7.
  • There are typically 2x practices per week, which start in mid-Oct 2025 and will continue through Feb 2026
  • Players will participate in 8-10 games on Sundays in end-Nov 2025 to Feb 2026
  • Top players can try-out for All-Star teams that will have games in Mar 2026
  • Mandatory evaluations to be held on Oct 11-12 2025 - to help with team placement

Competitive Club League (formerly called All-Net), 10U/4th grade to High School teams (Oct to Mar)
  • AAU-level Competitive teams that will start practice in early-Nov 2025 and will continue through Mar 2026
  • Program is designed for highly skilled players that want to play at a high level of competition -a stronger commitment is required compared to the Divisional League
  • Divided into age-based single-grade teams: e.g. 12U/6th grade girls, 14U/8th grade boys, 15U/high school freshman, etc
  • Teams will compete in 7+ tournament weekends from early-Dec 2025 to Mar 2026 - Travel required
  • Try-outs for the Club teams will occur late-Sept 2025 and early-Oct 2025 (mid-Nov 2025 for High School)
  • Club players MUST FIRST register as divisional players and then will be moved to their respective Club team after the try-outs - additional fee will apply
