What is the timeframe for the 2026 Spring season?
The Spring season runs from the week of March 9 through May 25, lasting 10 weeks (excluding the SJUSD spring recess).
Is the Spring season a recreational program?
No. The Spring season is competitive, with teams formed to compete in AAU-level tournaments. Coaches will evaluate all registered players during tryouts and select rosters based on performance and fit. Playing time is not guaranteed for Spring club team players.
When are the tryouts?
Tryouts will take place the week of February 9, 2026. Exact time and location will be shared after you register for tryout.
What age groups are forming teams the 2026 Spring season?
Based on coach and gym availability, we’re forming teams for the following grades:
- Girls: 6th, 8th, High School JV
- Boys: 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th
What if I don't see an age group available for my child?
There is no coach and gym availability for that specific age group.
When and where are practices?
Teams practice 2-3 times per week, typically 1-2 weekday evenings and Sunday (if no tournament). Practice length is 1.5 to 2 hours, using SJUSD school gyms in the Almaden area, with a mix of half-court and full-court depending on gym availability. Practice schedules are published 1-2 weeks in advance.
How much does it cost, and what’s included?
The Spring 2026 season fee is $950, with an additional $100 uniform fee for new players. As a non-profit, AYB is committed to keeping costs reasonable while providing a high-quality experience for the kids. The fee covers:
- 2-3 practices per week
- At least 6 weekend tournaments, including 2 one-day events (2 games each), 3 two-day events (3-4 games each) and a 3-day event (4 games).
- Experienced coaching focused on both individual skills and team development
- Shooting clinic using a professional-grade shooting machine
- Team shirts and/or swag
Any changes to the above will be communicated before final registration.
Do the club teams travel?
Yes. For the Spring season, teams travel to Reno, NV for the final tournament on the Memorial Day long weekend (May 23-25). 3-night hotel stay is typically required.
